Kolkata: Mohammad Adil Hossain, the main conspirator behind the attack on Kasba councillor Sushanta Ghosh, who arranged for the sharpshooters from Bihar, was named in a fresh FIR for using a passport issued on fake documents.
The detective department lodged the a suo motu case at the New Market PS, saying Adil may have helped other criminals access the Middle East using questionable documents.
Adil was arrested in Jan on his return from Abu Dhabi. The detective department now claims the passport he used was procured illegally. "We are going to seek his fresh police custody," said an officer. Cops are also preparing a supplementary charge sheet in the Kasba councillor shooting case, in which Adil will be named. The primary charge sheet submitted barely a week after his arrest did not carry his name.
Adil is known as the right-hand man of Bihar's don, Pappu Chowdhury, and police believe he got the gang's help while applying for his passport in Kolkata. Adil used his Tiljala address and local papers to get the passport, as he knew his application would be rejected in Bihar, where he spent time at jail.
