Kolkata: Cops in Bihar and Odisha claimed that gangster Subodh Singh—currently jailed in Bengal—used FaceTime on a phone smuggled inside his prison cell to communicate with his accomplices. They also claimed that Singh planned the heist of 30kg gold from a gold loan company in Sambalpur while being in the jail. Bihar and Odisha cops claimed that they had confirmed this by quizzing Singh's aide, Pallu Singh, currently lodged in Bihar's Beur Jail.
The state jail authorities dismissed such claims, stating that Singh was being monitored. "The gang operated even when Subodh was in a Bihar jail and is extremely organised. To say that orders came from Singh directly is exaggerated," said a top jail officer. Bengal CID had found that Subodh used to call his aides and demand money from businessmen from Beur Jail. tnn
