Kolkata: Suburban train services will be disrupted over the weekend owing to non-interlocking work at Ballygunge and Kankurgachhi.
Some local train services on the Kankurgachhi Road Junction-Sir Gurudas Banerjee Halt-Ballygunge chord section will either be cancelled or diverted to Sealdah North from Saturday-Sunday midnight till 4 am on Monday. "Passengers from Sealdah North to South section, travelling via the chord line, will have to change trains at Sealdah. Naihati-Majerhat locals on the chord line will be diverted via Circular Railway section," Dipak Nigam, ER's DRM Sealdah, said on Thursday.
"The route relay interlocking system at Ballygunge and Kankurgachhi junctions of the Sealdah South section is being replaced with electronic interlocking. Both are important junctions," Nigam said.
