'Hit with brick repeatedly': Businessman shot dead in West Bengal's Naihati

KOLKATA: A businessman, Santosh Yadav, was shot at and battered with a stone by a group of goons in a crowded locality at Naihati's Jorabari-Banerjee Para on Friday afternoon.
Locals said around 4.30 pm, when Yadav was returning his Gouripur home in a Toto, was dragged out by five bike-borne goons in helmets. A building, Singh Bhawan in Garifa, which housed a BJP office was allegedly ransacked and set on fire.
The victim's mother accused a man named Rajesh Shaw of orchestrating the murder, claiming he had an old feud with her son. Police are looking for Shaw.
Barrackpore police commissioner Alok Rajoria, however, said: "We are analyzing CCTV footage."
TMC MP Partha Bhowmick directly accused former BJP MP Arjun Singh of orchestrating the murder. Singh denied involvement and said both the victim, Yadav, and the prime accused, Rajesh Shaw, were TMC members. He said the murder was a fallout of TMC's internal feud.
