Edu minister to participate in law college Saraswati Puja

Kolkata: State education minister Bratya Basu on Saturday said he would visit the Saraswati Puja at Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College on Sunday to see how it was being organised. He added the education department had submitted a report on that puja to chief minister Mamata Banerjee, as directed by her.

Deshma Ghosh, a student, moved the Calcutta HC, saying they were being threatened by outsiders. The HC on Friday asked police to remove a makeshift pandal outside the Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Day College and Law College main building by Saturday noon to allow the law college students to hold their Saraswati Puja. The HC asked the KP commissioner to depute a joint commissioner and deploy armed cops to ensure students of both the day and law colleges could hold their pujas on the campus. No outsider is allowed.
