• 7 injured as car rams 2-wheelers, truck in Kolkata

  • Kolkata: Seven people were injured in a pile-up road accident on Sunday afternoon when a private car rammed into two scooters, a motorbike, a pedestrian and a mini-truck at the BB Ganguly Street-Phears Lane crossing in Bowbazar around 2 pm.

    Among those injured are the car driver, Sayan Ghosh (24), and the occupants, Ankit Saha (26) and Ishita Das Roy (28). The two-wheeler riders, Md Arshad (48), Panchu Shaw (40), and Md Zafir Khan (28), were also injured along with the pedestrian, Liman Anyon (57). All of them were discharged after first-aid treatment.

    Earlier in the day, a 46-year-old biker, Sambhu Mondal, suffered multiple injuries when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle around 9.40 am on EM Bypass near PC Chandra Gardens on Sunday. He was admitted to SSKM Hospital for treatment. Cops are searching for the driver of the vehicle that hit him and sped away.

    In another accident, pedestrian Bandana Ganguly (59), suffered severe injuries after a speeding motorbike hit her on the western flank of the Lake Gardens flyover and sped away. She has been admitted to a private hospital in Dhakuria.
