123 Kolkata: The detective department has solved a case of snatching in which an octogenarian citizen was tricked, and his debit and ATM cards were snatched from him by two men who then withdrew Rs 62,000 from his account.
The incident was reported from Netaji Nagar inside a Bank of Baroda ATM on Jan 22, with the arrests carried out last Saturday. The recoveries began on Monday, said cops, even as further arrests are expected. A case was recorded on Jan 24 under BNS 304 (snatching), 316 (2) (criminal breach of trust), and 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy).
According to Joint CP (Crime & Traffic) Rupesh Kumar, on Jan 22, between 5 pm and 5.30 pm, two unidentified miscreants snatched the Bank of Baroda ATM card, which was later used for making unauthorised transactions amounting to Rs 62,000 in total.
Based on source investigation and CCTV footage, the culprits were identified as Sanat Naskar (32), and Subham Mal alias Subho (29). TNN
