Kolkata: The Amherst Street police nabbed five persons on Monday for allegedly kidnapping the father of a local trader when the victim came to visit the city.
According to police, the victim, Joginder Singh (60), was abducted from his son's residence in the Amherst Street area on Sunday evening. He arrived from Bihar's Bhagalpur on Sunday and went to his son's flat the same evening. The kidnappers were reportedly business associates of his son, who owed them some money.
The five accused took the man to Park Circus and called the trader and Singh's wife in Mumbai, demanding Rs 8 lakh. In a swift operation, the cops rescued Singh and nabbed the five.
