• They threatened to arrest us, freeze bank accounts

  • We were threatened with arrest by the ED and rebuked by fake RBI officials. We were served a fake ED notice and threatened with having our bank accounts blocked and property seized if payment through RTGS did not arrive on time.

Persistent video calls from cyber crooks continued from Dec 19 to Jan 2, where we had to mark attendance every one to two hours through video calls between 7 am and 10 pm. Whenever we needed to step out of the house, we had to seek permission from the accused posing as ED and Delhi Police officers.

It started with a call on Dec 19 for the first time. The caller claimed to be from the SBI headquarters in Delhi and informed us that a credit card was issued in my (Subhasish) name, from which I spent Rs 1,60,000. We told them that neither did we take such a credit card nor made any expenses. The caller then said that since the Delhi Police was investigating the matter, we needed to inform him about the entire situation.

The phone line was then transfered to someone from Delhi Police. Upon receiving the video call, I saw several people dressed in Delhi Police uniforms sitting in a large room. They said that an arrest warrant had been issued against us by the ED. They asked me to send a photo of our Aadhaar cards immediately.

We got frightened and sent photos of the Aadhaar cards. An hour after sending the Aadhaar card, we received a notice from ED, stating that one of us would be arrested as I have links with a Rs 2.6 crore fraud done by one Harish Kartik. We literally manage my medicines from our mutual fund investments, and they directly asked me to declare them as they were part of the crime proceedings. We realized we were duped not before Jan 6 and finally approached Gariahat police on Jan 7.
