A police personnel, appointed as a bodyguard of a judge, allegedly died by suicide at Kolkata’s Bankshall court on Wednesday. The police said the deceased was identified as Gopal Nath and was posted in the special branch of Kolkata Police.
A sound of firing was heard around 7.30 am on Wednesday at Bichar Bhawan, the police said. The police and other personnel rushed to the spot and sent the body to the Calcutta Medical College for postmortem.
A senior police officer of the Kolkata Police said, “Nath was the personal bodyguard of a judge here. Primarily, it seems to be a case of suicide and the bullet was fired from his service revolver. However, we are investigating why he went there early in the morning when nobody was there in the court. Daily work had not started in the court. We are investigating all aspects.”
