A minor fire broke out at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Wednesday during an ongoing construction work, causing a brief scare.
“The fire broke out near the conveyor belt during welding work. However, no injury has been reported,” said an official.
Workers quickly brought the flame under control, preventing any major damage.
This comes at a time when the Kolkata airport is witnessing many VIP movements for the 8th Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS). As per sources, an inquiry committee has been formed to probe the cause of the fire and whether it was accidental.
