• SF personnel, B’deshi smuggler injured

  • 12 Kolkata: A BSF personnel and a Bangladeshi smuggler were injured in a clash at the international border in South Dinajpur early on Wednesday. "In the intervening night of Feb 4-5, some Bangladeshi smugglers crossed the international border. They initially ran away when BSF personnel challenged them. However, they returned with sharp weapons, sticks and wire cutters and attacked the BSF personnel on duty. In the scuffle, a jawan suffered injuries," the BSF said in a statement.

    After being encircled by the smugglers, BSF personnel started firing, which left one smuggler injured. The rest fled. The injured smuggler was admitted to Gangarampur Hospital.

    In a separate incident, BSF personnel arrested a Bangladeshi cattle smuggler at Laxminarayanpur village under Tapan PS.
