  • NEW DELHI: At least four people were injured after a government employee attacked his colleagues with a knife following a dispute at a West Bengal government office in Newtown on Thursday, police said.

    The accused, Asit Sarkar, an employee of the technical education department at Karigori Bhavan, was arrested by Techno City police under the Bidhannagar commissionerate.

    According to police, Sarkar, a resident of Ghola in Sodepur, North 24 Parganas, got into an argument with his colleagues over taking leave. In a fit of rage, he attacked them with a knife before attempting to flee.

    The victims, identified as Jaydeb Chakraborty, Santunu Saha, Sartha Late, and Sheikh Satabul, were injured, with two in critical condition.

    "Sarkar was seen running through the streets of New Town with the knife. We are investigating the incident to determine the exact motive behind his actions," a police officer said.
