• 3 UP gun-runners planning robbery held from Kolkata’s Burrabazar

  • Kolkata: For the third time over the last three months, the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police nabbed three gun-runners — all Uttar Pradesh natives — from central Kolkata on Friday night. Police claimed that the accused were working hand in glove with those arrested earlier to carry out a major robbery in the city. "The STF conducted a raid around 11 pm in the MG Road area of Burrabazar, leading to the arrests. The operation yielded a significant cache of weapons, including two semi-automatic pistols - one 9mm and another 7mm - along with four empty magazines and 17 rounds of ammunition," said additional CP Solomon V Nesakumar.

    Earlier, similar arrests linked to illegal weapons were made near Surendranath College and Baithakhana Bazar in Sealdah. Interrogation of the previously-held youths led to the latest arrest The recurring pattern of weapon seizures has put law enforcement on high alert.
