RG Kar victim’s parents meet Bhagwat, TMC questions ‘motive’

12 Kolkata: The parents of the RG Kar rape-murder victim called on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at a New Town guest house for a 30-minute meeting on Saturday, prompting Trinamool to immediately question their "real motive".
The parents expressed satisfaction with the discussion and their hope for justice. "We spoke to him for over half an hour. The meeting came a day after the parents moved Supreme Court for continuation of CBI investigation into the heinous crime, and a day before the victim's birthday on Feb 9, when the family has appealed to people to hit the streets demanding justice.
The meeting prompted TMC to hurl multiple posers at the family. Party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said: "Mohan-ji is a very senior RSS functionary and ideologue, why did they go to him? He is BJP's adviser. Does this mean that CBI is controlled by RSS? The mask is slowly slipping away, revealing a political motive. This only proves how Left, ultra-Left, BJP and RSS used this RG Kar tragedy and the pain of the parents to launch into a despicable tirade against Trinamool."
Ghosh added: "We do share the parents' pain, but their shifting and changing statements only prove that they are treading the path scripted by the opposition with its political motives. They do not have faith in police, they want CBI. Now, they have faith in CBI. They do not have faith in trial court. Is RSS's Mohan Bhagwat the CBI chief?"
The victim's father said TMC was rattled by the development. "They (Trinamool) are scared because we met the RSS chief. They know they will be in trouble if we get justice," he said.
The meeting came after the family met Governor CV Ananda Bose after the Sealdah session's court's Jan 20 RG Kar verdict. Bengal BJP state president and junior Union minister Sukanta Majumdar had also called on the family at their Sodepur home.
Bhagwat is currently on a 10-day visit to the state.
Bengal BJP did not see anything wrong in the meeting. "Mohan Bhagwat is not a political person and is a social worker. The parents have lost their daughter and they need sympathy and support at this moment," said Bengal BJP spokesperson and MP Samik Bhattacharya.
