123 Kolkata: The mercury dipped further on Sunday in Kolkata when the city recorded a minimum temperature of 15.1 °Celsius and a maximum of 27.2 °Celsius . The temperature is likely to hover around the same mark or slightly higher on Monday before another spell of rising trend begins from Tuesday.
With both the day and night temperature hovering below the normal mark Kolkata has been witnessing the somewhat cold feeling in the past two days. But a likely western disturbance is set to prevent the northwesterly wind from reaching the city from Tuesday again.
"While the temperature on Monday is likely to be around the same or slightly higher on Monday, we are expecting another spell of mercury rise from Tuesday," said HR Biswas, head of the weather forecast section at Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata.
Once the northwesterly wind stops coming into the city the warm southerly wind system will start injecting moisture into the land. During this period the city can also expect mild to moderate fog in the morning. The Met office has predicted another spell of mercury dip next Saturday onwards which will ensure the weather remains pleasant.
