  • The West Bengal BJP unit on Saturday acclaimed the party’s good performance in the Delhi Assembly elections, terming it as a rejection of corruption.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is poised to form a government in Delhi after more than 26 years. However, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) which had backed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said these results would have no impact on the West Bengal elections next year.

BJP state president and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar said that the verdict in Delhi reflected people’s faith in development and this would serve as a morale booster for party workers in West Bengal ahead of next year’s Assembly elections.

“The result of the Delhi Assembly elections said that people are not with corruption. People are with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. People did not fall into the trap of dole politics. People understand the allowance – free service will also provide the BJP. But the goal of the BJP is to make people self -reliant,” said Majumdar.

Stating that “next target is Bengal”, Majumdar said, “Now the goal is Bangla. In the next 2026 elections, the defeat of TMC is just a matter of time. We will soon raise the gerua flag in Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s Bengal.”

Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the victory, calling it a decisive mandate against AAP.

“Huge Victory for @BJP4Delh I express my heartiest congratulations to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji for leading from the front and orchestrating this very special victory over “AAP-da”. Now the People of Delhi will receive the benefits of Double Engine Govt in the National Capital as Mr Farziwal has been swept out of power,” he posted on X.

While addressing a programme at Mahishadal of Purba Medinipur, Adhikari said “Be united. The change will come in Bengal as well.”
“The TMC may increase Lakshmir Bhandar from 1000 to 1500. But BJP will increase it to 3000. So, why do you vote for TMC? Don’t divide hindu. United all Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya, Shudra as Hindu. Vote for India. Defeat TMC,” the senior BJP leader said.

While BJP supporters celebrated the party’s win in Delhi at Muralidhar Sen Lane in North Kolkata, one of the supporter’s said, “In 2024, Naveen Patnaik lost, in 2025, Arvind Kejriwal faced defeat, and now in 2026, it’s Mamata Banerjee’s turn…”

TMC leaders, however claimed, that the Delhi Assembly poll results will not have any impact on the Bengal polls next year.

Senior TMC leader and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said, “In 2026, Mamata Banerjee will be elected as Chief Minister for the fourth time with more than 250 seats.”

“2026. West Bengal Assembly Elections. @AITCofficial 250+… Fourth time Chief Minister @MamataOfficial. What happened elsewhere is not our business. Delhi’s business is Delhi’s. There is no comment here. They have no impact on Bengal,” he posted on X.

Meanwhile, CPIM central committee member Sujan Chakraborty said, “AAP was defeated in Delhi. They were trapped and forced to divide the anti-BJP vote. That is why BJP won Delhi.”

Congress state president Suvankar Chakraborty said, “incumbency factor worked against AAP in Delhi. Congress always fought against BJP and their fight will continue against such communal forces in India.”
