  • Jalpaiguri: Four women and two children were injured when a locomotive engine rammed into a coach of the 15468 Bamanhat-Siliguri Junction InterCity Express, at Bamanhat railway station in Cooch Behar's Dinhata on Tuesday.

As the train reached Bamanhat, the loco pilot reversed the engine for screw-coupling with the rear coach. The engine rammed into the coach, damaging it, and causing tremors in two other attached coaches.

The six people, who had boarded the train to head to Oodlabari, fell to the floor due to the collision. They were taken to the local hospital for treatment and later discharged.

The train finally left for Siliguri at 2.30pm, five hours behind schedule. The damaged coach was cut off and shunted.
