Kalyani: The students and some guardians continued their protest at the gate of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology at Haringhata campus in Nadia on Wednesday. However, they experienced the same scene as the previous day — a group of students locked the gate and allowed no one to enter until 3.30 pm. Consequently, no exam took place on Wednesday. A 5th-year MTech student, Sayani Das, died after allegedly jumping off the fifth floor of a university building on Monday night.
Students said there was notification regarding the cancellation of exam. They gheraoed registrar Partha Pratim Lahiri for about 48 hours. VC Tapas Chakraborty was not allowed in and he spoke to students from outside the gate. Police and RAF were seen outside the gate.
Chakraborty said, "The standstill is the outcome of anger." tnn
