Kolkata: Ajit Ranjan Bardhan, an IAS officer of the 1989 batch, was administered the oath of office as state vigilance commissioner by governor C V Ananda Bose at Raj Bhavan on Saturday. Earlier, Bandhan has served as the chairperson of the West Bengal State Food Commission. He has also headed several departments, including PWD (public works department), PAR (personnel & administrative reforms department), PHE (public health engineering department), tourism, labour, panchayat and north Bengal development department.
He has also been the commissioner of the Presidency and Jalpaiguri divisions.
For the past two years, the state vigilance commission has handled over 1,500 cases annually.
