19-yr-old raped by 2 friends on trip to Biharinath

Durgapur: A 19-year-old second-year student of Asansol Girls' College has accused two friends of raping her during a trip to Biharinath in Bankura. They were part of a group of eight people — four women and four men — who had travelled by car and rented two rooms in a hotel at the hill station.
On Thursday, the woman went to Asansol District Hospital for a check-up. Subsequently, she was shifted to ESI Hospital in Durgapur. Upon her discharge, the woman's mother filed a gang rape case under Section 70(1) of the BNS Act against the two accused at Asansol Women Police Station. The mother of one of the accused said her son had gone on a trip to Biharinath on Thursday and had been missing since Friday morning. A search is on for the two accused.
Following the FIR, Durgapur West BJP MLA Lakshman Chandra Ghorui attempted to enter Durgapur ESI Hospital but was stopped. Members of the party's Mahila Morcha also encountered similar resistance. BJP supporters then protested on the hospital campus. Local Trinamool functionaries said BJP should keep hospitals free from protests.
