  • 12 Kolkata: A 30-year-old engineer was found loitering inside a homeopathy medicine shop in Dalhousie on Tuesday morning. Police said there was some drama following the discovery, given that locals thought he was a burglar. Things turned complicated when he refused to come out, forcing cops to drag him out. However, it soon became apparent that the man had no ulterior motive as was initially suspected.

Homeopathy doctor Subal Shankar Roy, whose chamber is located in this shop, stepped in on hearing the news and instructed the establishment manager to request police to release the man as he had not misplaced anything at the counter nor caused any physical harm to the shop.

"It seems the man sneaked in on Monday. On Tuesday morning, security guards noticed him when they reported for work, and called the cops," the manager said.

"When we brought the man to the police station, he initially claimed he was an IIT graduate. We managed to contact his father and hand the youth over to him. There are allegations that the youth was intoxicated. Since the case was not pursued, we reunited him with his family," an officer said.
