Kolkata: The city sky remained partly cloudy on Wednesday while some parts of the neighbouring South and North 24 Parganas received light rain. The Met office, however, has predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate rain in Kolkata and some other parts of North Bengal on Thursday and also between Saturday and Sunday.
"The window period for rain possibility in Kolkata is between Wednesday and Thursday, and this possibility remains valid," said HR Biswas, head of the weather forecast section at Regional Meteorological Centre Kolkata.
According to IMD, the trough runs from Gangetic West Bengal to Telangana at 0.9 km above mean sea level. The thundershower possibility is under the influence of this system, along with strong moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal at the lower tropospheric level.
