12 Kolkata: Passenger concierge service finally resumed at Kolkata airport on Wednesday after a gap of six years. The service, which includes meet and greet and porterage, will particularly help senior citizens, people with disabilities and unaccompanied women travelling with children.
Inaugurating the service, airport director Pravat Ranjan Beuria said: "The concierge service will enable flyers to enjoy dedicated guidance, baggage handling, and a hassle-free travel experience for both domestic and international arrivals and departures."
Elite Assist, a subsidiary of TFS that is the master franchisee of the retail and F&B services at the airport, will provide end-to-end assistance to departing passengers in the processes involved at the airport, right from the entry gates to the terminal building till the boarding gates at the rate of Rs 500 per passenger.
Flyers can currently avail of the service from four counters — two near the domestic arrival hall and city-side domestic departure area, and two others near the international arrival hall and international city-side departure area. A call can also be made to 93300097150 to book the service. A company official said they intended to introduce an online booking service soon.
The service was discontinued in 2019 after passengers complained of being scammed by trolley retrievers who impersonated passenger assistance staff.
