123 Kolkata: Police arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly impersonating an Indian Army captain and running an unauthorized training centre for aspiring military recruits in central Kolkata on Wednesday. A casewas initiated at the Park Street police station. Cops are ascertaining if the accused also received money from probable victims who wished to enrol in the Indian Army.
The accused, Sk Nazir Hussain, was apprehended from his third-floor Elliot Road residence. Officers recovered several items with fake military stamps during the search operation.
"The seized items included a khaki uniform bearing three stars and red/blue ribbons, commemorative ribbon bars for India's 50th and 75th Independence Day celebrations, and a green beret cap with the distinctive double kukri insignia of the Gorkha Rifles regiment. Police also found a leather belt with the Gorkha Rifles crown badge and military-style ammunition boots," said Joint CP (Crime & Traffic) Rupesh Kumar.
