Kolkata: There is no prevailing system that can bring rain to the city for at least a week starting Monday, according to the Met department. However, Kolkatans may wake up to partly cloudy skies with shallow to moderate fog on Monday morning.
In the absence of rain, the minimum temperature rose to 22.2°C , 2.7 notches above normal, on Sunday from Saturday's 20.6 °C. The maximum temperature, however, continues to remain below normal. At 28.5°C, it was two notches below normal.
Triggered by a trough, Kolkata experienced 47.7 mm of rain on Thursday, with most of the spells occurring in a span of two to three hours.
The intense showers left some pockets, including hospital campuses, waterlogged for a few hours. Met officials said the city usually gets one or two rainy days in Feb. Alipore recorded only 0.1 mm of rain on Saturday.
