Special PMLA court to frame charges against Shahjahan in ED assault case

12 Kolkata: A special PMLA court is likely to start framing of charges relating to the alleged assault on ED officials outside the residence of Trinamool's Sandeshkhali strongman Sheikh Shahjahan on Jan 5, 2024.
On Monday, the agency sought the court's permission to sell three cars it had attached in the case. The three high-budget cars belonging to Shahjahan were seized by ED last March. The cars, priced above Rs 20 lakh, were registered in the names of Shahjahan, his brother Alamgir and a Punjab-based company.
"We have filed a petition with the court to sell the three cars already attached. They have objected to that. The defence has asked for a few documents from the agency. The court will give the order on March 19," said Arjit Chakraborty, ED's lawyer.
ED officials were allegedly attacked by a mob outside Shahjahan's Sarberia residence when they went there to conduct searches in connection with the ration scam.
