• 3 Kumbh pilgrims die in crashes

  • Siliguri: A person died and 12 others were injured when the pick-up van they were travelling in collided with a truck at Naxalbari on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Niranjan Sarkar (35), a resident of Assam's Mayang. All the passengers of the van were going from Assam to Prayagraj to attend Maha Kumbh. The accident took place near Satbhaiya More along Asian Highway-II around 6 am.

    Sheikh Sahabuddin, the medical officer at Naxalbari Rural Hospital, said: "Three of the injured are critical, and some have sustained head injuries.

    " Cops are looking for the truck driver.

    On Sunday night, two Bankura residents headed to Kumbh were killed in a road accident in Bihar's Sasaram. The incident took place when a truck hit the van in which the pilgrims were travelling. Haripada Sardar and Bangshi Mondal, both residents of Bankadaha in Bishnupur, died on the spot, while 12 were injured.
