• Call hosp admin for hearings, not docs: CM
    Times of India | 25 February 2025
  • Kolkata: In the run-up to the doctors' convention on Monday, members of SLGRC interacted with doctors working in private hospitals to understand their grievances, and where the state could intervene. The most prominent grievance was that doctors were often asked to appear during hearings by West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC), even though the health panel's jurisdiction is to hear lapses from the hospital's end.

During the convention, CM Mamata Banerjee tried to address this issue, though she did not mention WBCERC. "There is a grievance from private hospital doctors that they are called by four bodies during hearing of cases. Instead of calling them, why not call the hospital administration, wh-ich can be CEO, MD, or someone from the administration?" the CM said.
