  • A mother and daughter were apprehended while trying to dump a body in a trolley bag at Kumartuli Ghat, Kolkata. The women, who initially claimed it was a pet dog's remains, had traveled from Barasat Kajipara and were caught following local suspicion. The body was later identified as the younger woman's aunt-in-law. KOLKATA: A mother-daughter duo was caught red-handed while attempting to dispose of a body packed in a trolley bag at Kumartuli Ghat in Kolkata on Tuesday.

    According to police sources, the two women had traveled by train from Barasat Kajipara to Sealdah station, carrying the suitcase.

    From there, they took a taxi to the ghat, where they allegedly tried to dump the body.

    However, locals grew suspicious and confronted them.

    When questioned, the women initially claimed that the suitcase contained the remains of a pet dog.

    But as locals persisted and alerted the police, their story fell apart. Upon inspection, the body was identified as that of the younger woman's aunt-in-law.

    The police soon arrived at the scene and took both women into custody.

    The case is now under investigation to determine the motive and circumstances behind the crime.
