West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will meet party leaders at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor stadium on February 27. Sources from the TMC said Banerjee will start preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections at this meeting.
A senior party leader said, “Last November, the Chief Minister said she would convene a meeting for the party but for many reasons, it was delayed. Now, we are expecting that many organisational changes will be announced at Thursday’s meeting.” Trinamool MPs, MLAs, heads of zilla parishads, district leaders, and other leaders have been told to attend.
He also said, “Last week, I-PAC (co-founder and director) Pratik Jain met the Chief Minister at Nabanna. They had a meeting for almost an hour. On Sunday, Abhishek Banerjee (party number 2) also met the Chief Minister at her residence at Kalighat.”
“Last month, Mamata Banerjee gave a sharp message… that she is the party’s Chairperson and she is the last word in the party. (For the first time since then), Abhishek Banerjee had a meeting with the Chief Minister and we think the distance between the two leaders has decreased. What the Chief Minister will say in the meeting is also important for the organisation in this context,” said the leader.
A senior MLA of the TMC said, “Mamata Banerjee may emphasise the completion and proper implementation of government projects within the next year. She will stress the campaigning of different government projects among the people as a part of the campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections.”
