Kolkata: Many schools across the city took partin Spardha 5.0, an inter-school experiential learning expedition held on the premises of Mahadevi Birla World Academy. The event's theme was based on Amitav Ghosh's‘Gun Island', which highlighted the Sundarbans.
The festival featured events ranging from science and robotics to art, dance and quiz.
The highlight of the event was ‘Guardians of the Mangroves: A Blueprint for Eco Conservation' model. Students brainstormed and presented a model that facilitated the implementation of a holistic problem-solving strategy to the complex ecosystem of the Sundarbans. The event was judged by Malay Kanti Dey, scientific officer at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, and Santosha GR, divisional forest officer.
