  • 12 Kolkata: Bengal's chief electoral officer (CEO) Dibyendu Das on Thursday asked for reports from district magistrates after complaints that there were bogus voters on electoral rolls, reports Debashis Konar. The CEO also held a meeting with the officials on the issue on Thursday.

Chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is likely to discuss the matter when he meets Das on March 4 and 5. The poll body has asked for clarity on the complaints ahead of the meeting.

It was spotted that the same EPIC number was used on voter cards from Murshidabad and South Dinajpur districts. Each complaint has been reported to the EC, which will investigate.

Sources said the CEO had asked district officials to be more vigilant and investigate complaints immediately.
