• ‘File affidavit on blue-white road markings’
    Times of India | 28 February 2025
  • 123 Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Thursday directed the state to file an affidavit within three weeks from date in response to a PIL petition challenging the blue-white road markings used by the state contrary to the black-yellow-white colour code prescribed by the Indian Roads Congress.

A division bench of Chief Justice T S Sivagnanam and Justice Chaitali Chatterjee (Das) directed the petitioner to file an affidavit in-reply two weeks thereafter and fixed the next hearing of the matter after five weeks.

Petitioner Mohit Ray had moved the PIL in the division bench claiming that the colour code did not match the approved code across India and the approved colour code markings adopted by Indian Roads Congress. Counsel for petitioner pleaded on Thursday that there was no science behind the blue-white road markings/signage used across the state.
