Kolkata: Drivers of private and mini-buses on around 15 routes, along with the conductors, will be trained on how to use the application for vehicle tracking. The training is likely to start within the next two weeks as the state enters the final stage of launching its ambitious project of tracking buses on these routes.
Each municipality will arrange a space for the training every weekend until the project is launched. Govt buses on another 10 routes are also part of the first set of buses that will be tracked in the city, all of them originating in and around the Airport area.
The buses will be tracked on routes 45, 45A, 45B, 46, 46A, 46B, 79B, 79D, 93, 219, 223, L-238, K-1, KB-21, and S-184. Under this system, bus drivers will have to enter licence numbers. It will facilitate live monitoring of route compliance, ensure adherence to speed limits and schedule timings. tnn
