AT THE Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) two-day coordination meeting, or ‘Samanya Baithak’, which concluded on Sunday in Tantiberia, Uluberia, in Howrah, the main focus was on the West Bengal Assembly Elections in 2026.
According to sources, several key decisions were taken and strategies discussed to strengthen the BJP’s base in the state before the Assembly elections.
There were discussions on how far the state BJP has reached in its target of one crore members in Bengal. Also sources said RSS leaders present in the meeting enquired about the districts where BJP is facing challenges in attracting voters and if RSS can play a vital role in these places. This year, instructions have been to celebrate Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti in a grand scale across Bengal, the sources said.
It was also decided that issues such as law and order in West Bengal, crime against women and lack of safety for them and “corruption” under the Trinamool Congress government should be highlighted to the general public. This will be done through the several social organisations that are associated with the RSS and through public meetings Top leaders of the Bengal RSS along with representatives of the neighbouring states attended the meeting. Additionally, members of 57 organisations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Vidya Bharti, will also be present.
Top leaders of the state BJP such as Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, former MPs Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul and others attended the meeting.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had visited West Bengal on a 10-day tour for organisational work last month.
