Kolkata: A trip to attend a marriage ceremony in Uttar Pradesh ended in tragedy for three persons of a Belgharia family after their SUV collided with a truck in UP's Chandauli on Saturday morning. Three of them, including a 7-year-old girl, died on the spot while another is battling for her life. Five others in the vehicle were seriously injured.
The bodies were brought back to their Belgharia home on Monday. The accident occurred while the victims were on their way to board a train from Renukoot station in UP. According to local sources, the victims, Akhtar Ansari and his family, used to stay on Belgharia's MacKenzie Road.
"The SUV was badly damaged in the crash. A member of the host family, who accompanied them to the station, also died," said a senior police officer.
