Hooghly: A Hooghly cop, who had sustained a gunshot wound on Friday, died at a Chinsurah hospital on Monday, the day he was supposed to get married.
Constable Himanshu Maji (26) received the injury on his head while on duty at the hospital's custody room. Preliminary police investigations indicated it was a self-inflicted injury from a bullet shot from his service revolver. The authorities organised a "green corridor" to facilitate his transfer to a Kolkata hospital. However, Maji did not survive and passed away on Monday morning. tnn
