  • 12 Kolkata: In an overnight operation by a joint team of Murshidabad police and Kolkata Police, two kidnapped youths were rescued and four persons arrested from a hideout in Tiljala on Saturday night. The primary victim, who was missing for two days, was found tied up in a rented house along with another kidnapped youth from the Hariharpara area. Cops arrested four individuals identified as Arun Kumar Yadav, Sonu Singh, Rohit Shaw, and Amit Kumar Roy.

The operation was launched after the father of one of the victims filed a complaint at Domkal PS on Saturday evening. According to the complaint, his son was called from home by two acquaintances on Thursday and didn't return. The family received a ransom demand through the victim's mobile phone, prompting them to contact the police.

Under Domkal police inspector Parthasarathi Majumdar, investigators tracked the ransom call to a location in Tiljala. A joint team of Domkal and Tiljala police conducted the raid, leading to the arrests and rescue of both victims.

The four suspects were presented before the Berhampore court on Sunday, where police requested eight days of custody.
