Kolkata: Police on Tuesday recovered a ‘bnoti', a machete and a hammer used by Madhyamgram residents Falguni Ghosh and her mother, Arati, to kill Falguni's aunt-in-law Sumita on Feb 23. The weapons were recovered from a pond in Bireshpalli, Madhyamgram, near the rented place of the accused.
Police said they were also looking for a knife.
"Sumita was bludgeoned to death with the hammer, her body was chopped up with the machete and the parts were stashed in a trolley bag. The accused cut off her legs with the bnoti and threw the weapons in the pond," said a Barasat cop. "Falguni and Arati were taken to the pond and divers retrieved the weapons," Barasat SP Pratiksha Jharkharia told TOI. tnn
