Kolkata: A clash broke out between Trinamool and CPM workers in Baghajatin on Wednesday evening, when some Left supporters were staging a protest against the JU incident.
Left workers alleged Trinamool councillor Mitali Banerjee's supporters attacked their office and that a Trinamool worker, Shankar Pal, assaulted, harassed and robbed their woman activists. CPM lodged a complaint at the Netaji Nagar PS. CPM's Srijan Bhattacharya said, "The councillor tried to tear our flag in front of the CPM office. They hurled abuses. I went to Netaji Nagar PS to lodge a complaint." But Trinamool's Banerjee said, "SFI and DYFI members hit my car. Some of our supporters went to ask them why they were doing this. Our boys removed some paper rings the Left members were carrying. Vandalising party offices is not part of Jadavpur and Baghajatin culture." tnn
