  • Representative image KOLKATA: A young bank executive lodged a police complaint for facing harassment from a stalker who had been calling and texting her for the past four months. The stalker also ordered expensive gadgets, clothing and other items to her home via cash-on-delivery, causing severe distress.

Adding to her suffering, repeated refusals to accept these deliveries led e-commerce giants Amazon and Flipkart to block her account. The woman suspects the man is tracking her movements, as he seems to know her exact work schedule, office activities and leaves.

"Since Nov, I returned around 300 parcels that deliverymen brought to my home. All of them were cash-on-delivery orders, and they ranged from tablets and mobile phones to dresses and small gift items. Throughout Feb, there were multiple deliveries of Valentine's Day gifts and other products each day. I had frequent tiffs with delivery agents who negatively rated me and when I took the matter to the e-commerce platforms, they blocked my account, saying they were carrying out an investigation," said the woman, who works at a nationalised bank's Lake Town branch.

The cops registered a case of stalking, harassment and impersonation and that they have some leads. "The man booked the items from multiple accounts on e-commerce platforms. We have also written to the e-commerce platforms for leads as well," said an officer of Lake Town PS.

The woman, who recently had a breakup, initially suspected it was the work of her former boyfriend, but later realised that he is not behind it.

"Cops suspect some of my colleagues may be doing this, but I am not sure," she said.
