Kolkata: The Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute unveiled an indigenous thulium laser innovation on Friday to DRDO chairman and defence secretary (R&D) Samir V Kamal.
The technology, developed under the Centre of Innovation & Manufacturing Eco-System for Sensors (CIMES), is undergoing clinical trials in city hospitals before its large-scale industrial production. It is designed for targeted medical treatments, including bladder cancer, urinary tract carcinoma, benign prostatic hyperplasia, kidney stones, and bladder tumours.
CIMES is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, and the West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation.
