  • 123 Kolkata: Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI) organised a free health check-up on Saturday that was attended by minister Aroop Biswas and deputy mayor Atin Ghosh. In the presence of FCTWEI president Swarup Biswas, the two-day camp at Technicians' Studio brought together all stakeholders in Tollywood. CM Mamata Banerjee congratulated FCTWEI for organising this free health check-up camp.

"I am happy that such an effort has been taken by FCTWEI. I wish all success for this endeavour to offer healthcare and create awareness about health. I take this occasion to wish all members of federation," Banerjee said in a statement.

Biswas said the event will cater to medical needs of some 8,000 technicians along with their kin. "Except for the Directors Association of Eastern India, members of every organisation in the industry attended it. We intend to host these camps every year," he said. In attendance were directors Kaushik Ganguly, Srijit Mukherji and Arindam Sil, composer-turned-director Indraadip Dasgupta, and producer Rana Sarkar. While Mukherji said the event was "nice", Ganguly was impressed by the turnout.

Meanwhile, director Rahool Mukherjee tendered an unequivocal apology via social media to technicians and FCTWEI president Biswas, urging all stakeholders to collaborate as a cohesive unit.
