123 Kolkata: Apprehending an attack on him and other BJP MLAs, Bengal leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari wrote to the assembly secretary on Wednesday. This comes after TMC's Humayun Kabir hit back after Adhikari said on Tuesday that Muslim MLAs would be thrown onto the streets once BJP came to office in the state.
MLA Kabir said on Wednesday: "If he (Adhikari) comes to attack us, should we offer him rosogolla? He has disrespected Muslim MLAs and spoken about throwing them onto the streets. He will get the response he deserves. If he talks about hurting us, I will strike back." Kabir added that if Adhikari did not withdraw his statement within 72 hours and apologise to the Muslim MLAs, he would have to face all 42 of them in the assembly.
Adhikari then sent the letter, citing security concerns. He wrote that he or other BJP MLAs could be attacked inside the assembly, said sources. While Adhikari gets Centre's Z-category security, central forces are not permitted inside the assembly.
