  • To enhance travel experience, the West Bengal government on Tuesday launched the #CleanCabPromise initiative, focusing on improving hygiene in cabs across the state.

The initiative, spearheaded by Yatri Sathi app, began at Kolkata airport and Howrah railway station, the two major transportation hubs in the state.

Inaugurating the drive, minister Babul Supriyo said: “With #CleanCabPromise, Kolkata is stepping into a new era of cleaner, more comfortable cab rides. A fresh, well-maintained cab isn’t just about hygiene—it transforms the travel experience for both passengers and drivers. This initiative sets a new benchmark for professionalism and comfort while contributing to a cleaner, more welcoming city for all.”

Inspector General of Police (Traffic) Sukesh Kumar Jain said it was more than a cleanliness drive. “It’s about instilling a habit of hygiene and responsibility. When drivers maintain cleaner cabs and passengers refrain from littering, it fosters a collective mindset that extends beyond cabs to the city itself,” he said.

The Yatri Sathi app, developed by the state government, provides ride-booking services using a network of cabs.
