Jalpaiguri: The parents of a minor girl lodged a police complaint on Thursday alleging that their daughter had been raped by a minor boy at a BSF camp in Jalpaiguri.
The parents claimed their daughter had left home on Tuesday saying she was going to a friend's place and could not be traced afterwards. On Wednesday night, she called claiming she was "held up" in a room on the camp's premises. The parents said they immediately informed police and rushed to the camp but were denied entry.
In a press release, BSF said: "Around 11.45pm on Wednesday, Jalpaiguri police contacted BSF about a missing girl. The girl's general location was showing near Raninagar BSF camp but she could not be traced as there was no specific location. Being late night, the search was called off. BSF resumed the search early on Thursday morning and found the girl with a boy, 17, son of a BSF jawan presently on leave, at the BSF quarters. During that time, the girl said she had come to the boy of her own free will. BSF immediately informed the local police station and handed over both to Jalpaiguri Police. Both the boy and the girl are minors, from the same community and became friends through social media."
A senior officer of Jalpaiguri Police said an investigation was underway.
