Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress parliamentary disciplinary committee, headed by Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to Humayun Kabir over his comment on Suvendu Adhikari and asked the Bharatpur MLA to reply within 24 hours.
Reacting to Adhikari's statement that he would throw Muslim MLAs out of the assembly, Kabir had said on Wednesday that if the state leader of opposition did not apologise within 72 hours, he would have to "face all 42 Muslim MLAs in the assembly".
CM Mamata Banerjee expressed her ire during the cabinet meeting on Thursday.
The disciplinary committee is also likely to issue a warning to mass education and library affairs minister Siddiqullah Choudhury for similar comments.
Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said when a party MLA said something wrong, TMC took action instantly. He pointed out that BJP had failed to act against Suvendu Adhikari.
Kabir had got a show-cause notice in Nov last year for talking about making Abhishek Banerjee deputy CM and appointing him as the home minister. The MLA had then tendered an unconditional apology.
