Both victims were critically injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. A complaint has been filed, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to sources, about three months ago, Shaktipada and Swapan traveled to Hyderabad with their cousin, contractor Apu Shasmal, for decoration work. However, even after returning home, they did not receive the pending payment of around Rs 17,000. Despite repeated requests, the issue remained unresolved, leading to a dispute with Apu.
On Friday evening, Apu Shasmal, along with his wife and brother, visited Shaktipada’s house. There, they allegedly surrounded and severely beat the brothers. They also attacked Shaktipada and Swapan with a sharp knife, injuring their necks and bodies. As news of the attack spread, a commotion broke out in the area. When villagers rushed to the scene, the attackers fled.
Shaktipada’s mother, Gauri Bhuiya, said, "My sons did not receive their wages for the decoration work. They called to ask for the money today. Following this, my brother's two sons and daughter-in-law entered our house and attacked my sons with a knife."
According to Patashpur police sources, the injured were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment. The reason behind the attack is under investigation.
