2 kids among 7 dead as SUV crashes into e-rickshaws

Chapra (Nadia): Seven people, including two children, were killed when an SUV crashed into three e-rickshaws on the Krishnanagar-Karimpur State Highway at Lakshmigachha village in Nadia on Friday morning. Ten others have been admitted to Chapra Rural Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle fled after the incident.
The deceased were Takrin Mallick (3), Santa Mandal (30) and Putul Mallick (26) of Teghri village under Nakashipra police station; and Rahima Sheikh (35), Amit Ghosh (35), Rohan Sheikh (16), and Parveen Bibi (35) of Huda village under Chapra police station.
Locals said a liquor bottle was found inside the SUV. The car crashed into the e-rickshaws head-on, killing three on the spot. Four more died at the hospital. Most of the victims were on their way to the local market at the time of the incident. Police are looking for the driver.
Chapra's TMC MLA Rukbanoor Rahaman promised compensation for the families of the victims.
